TRC-20 USDT Fee

TRON's TRC-20 network is consistently one of the most popular choices for USDT transfers due to its very low fees and fast confirmation times. As of 2025, sending USDT via TRC-20 typically costs well under $1 — often just a few cents in TRX equivalent.

Current TRC-20 USDT Fee (2025)

Following a major network upgrade in August 2025 (Proposal #104), the energy unit price on TRON was cut roughly in half. As a result:

  • Sending to a wallet that already holds USDT: approximately 6.4 TRX
  • Sending to a new/empty USDT wallet: approximately 13.4 TRX

At current TRX prices, these amounts typically translate to between $0.50 and $2.00 — far cheaper than Ethereum alternatives.

How TRC-20 Fees Work

Unlike Ethereum's gas model where you pay per unit of computation, TRON uses a resource model based on Energy and Bandwidth. USDT transfers primarily consume Energy. Each transaction burns a specific amount of TRX unless you have sufficient staked Energy available.

If you stake TRX (freeze TRX in the network), you earn Energy that regenerates every 24 hours. With enough staked TRX, you can send USDT completely free — paying zero TRX — by using your daily Energy allowance.

How to Reduce TRC-20 USDT Fees Further

  • Stake TRX for Energy: Freezing TRX gives you Energy that covers USDT transfer costs. This is cost-effective if you send USDT regularly.
  • Use Energy rental services: Services like TronCastleBot allow you to rent Energy from stakers at a fraction of the burn cost.
  • Send to non-empty wallets: Transactions to wallets that already hold some USDT consume about half the Energy of a first-time transfer.

Is TRC-20 USDT Safe?

TRC-20 USDT is officially issued by Tether and is the same USDT token available on other networks — it is simply represented on the TRON blockchain. It is widely supported by major exchanges including Binance, OKX, Bybit, and most large platforms. Always verify that both sender and recipient support TRC-20 before sending.
